The 2008 Dodge Caliber is a compact five-door hatchback wagon that blurs any assumptions. It takes styling cues from larger models such as the crosshair grille, flared out wheel arches and large front halogen headlights. The 2008 Caliber comes four trims including the SE, SXT, R/T and the all-new SRT4 high-performance model. No matter which trim you select, be prepared for a dazzling experience.
The 2008 Caliber has a number of available engines. There is a 148-horsepower, 1.8-liter, a 158-horsepower 2.0-liter, a 172-horsepower 2.4-liter and a 285-horsepower 2.4-liter; all of these come with variable valve timing, flow-control valves and are all aluminum. There is a 2-speed Controlled Variable Timing automatic transmission with auto-manual features, a 5-speed and a 6-speed manual transmission available. What engine and transmission you get depends on the model you select. All models use FWD except for the new SRT4, which has standard AWD. The bold and smooth design has curves that extend back to the hatchback. When the hatchback opens, the end has a built in CD-player with speakers that can use the automobile’s audio system to continue playing music even when the car ride is over. The floor of the backspace opens to reveal an additional storage compartment.
Just ahead of the back storage space is the 60/40-split folding rear seats that condense, along with the front passenger seat, to amplify to maximum cargo volume. The back seats can also recline back because when the back storage space isn’t being used. There a numerous color schemes for the interior color scheme and a variety of materials can be used as upholstery. The most notable is the YES Essentials stain, odor and static resistant fabric, which is available on SXT and R/T trims. Whoever may be sitting on your seating arrangement will be protected with frontal dual-stage airbags, standard side curtain airbags and a driver’s knee airbag.
Various commodities keep the driver and passengers pleased. The driver has control over the Boston Acoustics® audio system, Navigation System, Liftgate Speakers and the other usual car luxuries. The Chillzone cooled beverage storage bin keeps your drinks cool and the illuminated cupholders keep them in sight when driving at night. The cargo-area lamp is also a removable flashlight and uses LED light. Everything from the center armrest and seat height is also adjustable. Amidst all of this, there is an MP3 auxiliary jack and various power outlets to use for external equipment.
