The Dodge Dakota midsize pickup truck is updated in 2008 with a stronger engine, revamped exterior styling details and a more refined interior. Whether you choose the extended or crewcab body style, Dodge claims the 2008 Dakota offers the most overall interior room in its class!

2008 Dodge Dakota

The 2008 model comes standard with a 3.7-liter V6 engine that generates up to 210 horsepower. In addition, an optional 290 horsepower 4.7-liter V8 engine can run on E85 ethanol as well as gasoline. The V6 models use a standard six-speed manual transmission or the optional four-speed automatic and the V8 models get a five-speed automatic. Whatever engine you choose, you can opt for two or four wheel drive. The right combination of equipments nets the driver up to 7,050 pounds of towing capacity.

The Dakota has a restyled exterior to improve aerodynamics, fuel economy and to give it a strong presence that distinguishes it as a Dodge brand vehicle. This is done through the crosshair grille, chiseled hood, available fog lamps, smooth fenders and catwalk protection. The extended cab features the longest cargo bed in its class, measuring in at 6’6”. The Crew Cab has an also impressive 5’4” cargo bed. The Dakota cargo beds also have built-in utility rails and cargo box tie-downs.

The extended-cab Dakota can seat five while the crewcab has enough room for six. With various conveniences such as available heated seats and the stain/odor resistant fabric, whatever number of occupants there are will be pleased. The new Crate ‘N Go rear-seat allows it to fold for better storage capabilities. The Full Swing Rear Access Doors also allow easy access into the rear seat of the inner cabin. With the MyGIG Multimedia Infotainment System, the 6.5-inch color touch screen gives access to various technologies. Included into this system is Voice-activated GPS Navigation, SIRIUS Satellite Radio, DVD playback and 20GB of storage. The center console that it rests on also holds an MP3 Auxiliary Jack that can connect your MP3 device into the Dakota’s stereo system.

Safety wasn’t ignored either. The Anti-Lock Braking System, Traction Control and Tire Pressure Monitoring System ensure you that the vehicle is in optimal condition at all times. The advanced multistage front airbags and available side curtain airbags give a layer of defense in case of a collision. The Dakota’s various crush zones also help give a little extra protection in an accident.
