Dodge Zeo Concept Rears Its Head Once Again

Dodge ZEO

Last year, we told you about an upcoming Dodge Concept that never made it past the production phase – 2008 Dodge Zeo. It was to be CDJ’s crowing achievement – combining a sports car with an all-electric layout…you know, that stuff Al Gore is always chatting about. As popular as alternative fuel/hybrid cars are nowadays, Dodge’s economic downturn left concepts like Zeo on the showroom floor.

But all hope may not be lost. Recently, 2008′s Zeo (Zero Emissions Operations) popped up at random car shows and press events. Chrysler Dodge Jeep has been working on new ad campaigns ever since their Fiat Merger. Could an electric car be in its Italian-made future? There’s no news on Zeo becoming a production car, at least until 2012 – so why has Dodge laid out a Zeo Microsite on their official web page?

It’s probably wishful thinking that Zeo, or a car like it, will see the light of day before 2020. We can all dream, right? I mean, look at these stats according to Dodge: Zeo is a “268 hp rear-drive motor,” sending driver/passengers from 0 to 60 in approximately 5.7 seconds. ZEO is powered by a 64 kilowatt lithium-ion batter pack. Think cell phone battery, only much, much, much larger. Price is something yet to be discussed, as ZEO is merely a case study for the moment. It has yet to be proven how a fully-electric vehicle would fare in the world of diesel and gas power (meaning mostly the United States).

  1. the concept car from Dodge that I thought was awesome was the copperhead, too bad it was put into practice and done not-sot-wonderfully by Pontiac and Saturn! What a shame.

  2. just build it and stop talking talking gets you konw place in the market make more than one variant of the car

  3. Brutal i like that

  4. Who has the show car? 2008 Dodge Zeo.
I saw it on display… Where did it go?
    Is it 4sale?
I would lke to buy the one that i saw at the car show..

  5. I know that it’s not out yet, but does anyone know of Dodge talking about what this could POSSIBLY cost? Looking really good hoping to have it myself!!!!

  6. Alright, I saw this concept back when I bought my Challenger in ’08, and right then and there I knew I would have to have this car. It will be mine! This car is exactly what needs to happen in the US to put a slap in the face of the oil cartel! Hey, if it makes it any better for ya (Chrysler) I will keep my Challenger with it’s gas guzzling 6.1 HEMI engine! So long as you produce this cool electric car for me to tool around the local areas in! C’mon!

By the way… The production price on this car I hear is between $35,000 and $40,000. That’s nearly equal to what I paid for my ’07 Magnum. (Yeah, I know… I have two gas hog HEMI cars… but I will gladly trade the Magnum in for a ZEO!) … (or maybe I’ll just have three cars! LOL!)

  7. dodge HAS TO build this car. I have been salivating over it since the ’08 NY Auto show… I don’t care the cost. This car is a must have.
