NASA Has a Dodge Charger Pursuit?
The 120 mph Dodge Charger is a little known super pursuit car used by NASA. Why does a Space Agency need a police-type chase vehicle? To help land their ER-2: a 105-foot wingspan craft. ER-2 is used by the U.S. Air Force on spy missions and to check up on large natural disasters, like the Gulf Oil Spit.
The vehicle, driven by pilots, speeds onto the runway as ER-2 descends, calling out readings to the ER-2 pilot. This Dodge Charger helps keep an eye on the craft, spotting potential hazards and assisting in the landing of a massive ship.
