Dodge Caravan is IIHS Top Safety Pick
The 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan has won a nod from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. IIHS officials tested out the Dodge minivan against top competitors in rollover experiments. The vehicle was able to take more roof pressure than any of the other vans. Dodge Grand Caravan marked a strength–to-weight ratio ratings of 4.51, among the highest of all vehicles tested, as well as above IIHS’s 4.0 Minimum Requirement.
In addition to receiving high scores in these tests, the minivan achieved a ‘Good’ rating in frontal, side and rear crash protection.
Caravan offers 40 standard / available safety features for 2012, some of which include: front seat mounted airbags, curtain air bags, driver-side knee blocker, and all-speed traction control.
“Safety-conscious parents shopping for a family hauler should be pleased with today’s minivan choices,” said David Zuby, IIHS Chief Research Officer.
