Les Stroud And His Ram 1500

Les Stroud, better known as Survivorman on TV, drives and talks about his Ram 1500. TV’s “Survivorman” Les Stroud knows when to seek out adventure. Whenever he is on the trail of his next television journey, or jetting down to the river for some peaceful fishing, Les is behind the wheel of his fire-engine red 2011 Ram 1500.

Piloting through the backwoods of Northern Ontario, Canada, is not as easy as one might think. You need a rough and ready truck, like a Ram, in order to traverse those hazardous mud-flows and creeks.

When asked why he purchased a Ram, Les educated us: “I’ve been driving them for a long time and I’ve never experienced any issues with them. I don’t haul tractor trailers with it. But if I got to go through rough roads, rough mud I’ve never been stuck.”

And what does his Ram 1500 say about Survivorman? “It says I’m a realist. We all lead lives of conflict, environmentally. Obviously I’m very concerned environmentally yet at the same token I drive a Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi. What does that say? It says there’s a lot of conflict here. I accept that life of conflict as we all have to. I do whatever I can. I utilize my truck minimally as much as possible.”

Les adds that even though he can start a fire in the middle of the Arctic without wood or gasoline, he is not very mechanically inclined when it comes to auto repairs. Good thing Ram offers so many great warranty options on new and pre-owned trucks.

RAM Minivan Based Pickup

Back in 2006, Dodge released the Rampage Pickup, based on minivan design. Rampage was a 4-door (or quad cab) truck, with rear doors opening or sliding backwards, much like a minivan. The entire rear of the cab could also open, extending to the flatbed. All seats, except for the driver’s, were “stow and go” – able to fold down into the floor.

Ram is now looking at this concept again, as a possible 2013 model. According to World Car Fans: “While nothing is official, the model – dubbed the TR Ram Lifestyle Truck – would reportedly be built in Canada and compete against the Honda Ridgeline. Essentially a replacement for the Ram Dakota, the truck is envisioned as a fuel-efficient model for consumers who like the flexibility of a pickup, but don’t need gas guzzling engines and a massive towing capacity.”

Is This The New Dodge Logo?

Dodge is working on a new logo to take a grille spot on all upcoming vehicles, once RAM graduates to its own entity. It’s been a while since RAM took its place at the front of all Dodge vehicles, and we hate to see it go. Why not keep the RAM shield for Dodge cars, and just put a slightly changed RAM head, minus the background shield, on RAM trucks? I mean, that might kind of make sense, but who in the auto industry makes a lick of that these days?

Dodge’s updated logo will apparently sport the company’s name in between cross-hairs. This rendition (above) is not the official logo, which is good, because it looks like something the Gestapo put on their uniforms while goose-stepping around Poland. Stay Classy, Dodge.

Dodge and Canada – Keeping Ontario Interesting

When traveling some parts of the vast Canadian Wilderness, or while watching The Trailer Park Boys, it can be difficult to tell Canada and South Carolina apart. But you have to admit, this truck decal is clever. Ok maybe it’s not that good after all, and we highly doubt Dodge (or the new RAM subsidiary) will pick it up as any kind of advertising campaign for next year’s model.
