The day we all feared has arrived – the last of Dodge’s 2010 Viper SRT10′s – in ACR, Coupe and convertible editions. As recent history will tell you, the Viper was supposed to be killed off several times – going as far back as 2008. But fans and admiration for the sports car by this Chrysler-Fiat owned brand kept it coming back.

According to Dodge: “The company has announced that it will build 50 of the Final Edition Viper SRT10s, oddly broken down as 20 coupes, 18 convertibles, and 12 ACRs. The Final Editions will follow the other special-edition 2010s (1:33, the Voodoo, and the ACR-X) out of the Conner Avenue plant, marking the end of second-gen Viper production.”

The Final Edition cars all wear graphite paint with red-trimmed black center stripes. Standard coupes and convertibles get anthracite six-spoke wheels while the ACR coupes roll on black five-spokes. Inside is black leather trimmed with red stitching. There are bright stainless screws poking out of the center-console bezel, red-ringed gauges, Final Edition floor mats (woo!), and each car gets a numbered plaque. (Recent-history lesson: In 2002—when the original Viper RT/10, GTS coupe, and first-gen ACRs made way for the SRT10s—Dodge built a total of 360 Final Edition coupes and ACRs. Those cars were all red with white stripes.)

In 2011 Dodge will say goodbye to the Viper. That’s right, star of the 90′s syndicated television series “VIPER” will no longer grace the lots of car dealers near you.

With that, DodgePedia brings to you the 2008 Viper SRT10.

The obvious change of a front end really brings out the ferociousness of this Viper’s 8.4L V10, pumping speed to the rear wheel drive that can take you from 0-60 in under 4-seconds – not too shabby for 600 horsepower, eh? Your exterior will remain unmistakably recognizable – everyone will turn to peek at a classic American roadster cruising through their neighborhood. Inside, the cockpit fits to your body, making it feel as though you’re taking off in an Air Force Jet. Your gauges line up vertically down the side of SRT10′s steering wheel, which reminds us of Speed Racer’s Mach-5 “utility” wheel. ’08 models are available in coupe and convertible; just be sure your lid is secure after passing the 100 mph mark.

When all is said and done, the 2008 SRT10 continues a tradition of stylish, sporty Viper vehicles Dodge has continually supported through good times and bad. It’s a shame this beast will be discontinued just shy of it’s 20th birthday – but DodgePedia is anxious to see how the Dodge Demon concept will compete, and if she’s a possible evolution of the Viper.
